Thank you from TEAM Burnaby

Thank you to those who financially supported, volunteered, and voted for TEAM Burnaby. Your help and support was appreciated. The results were not what we wanted and we are dissapointed. The key challenge is voter engagement. We will be debriefing soon and deciding on next steps because the next civic election is only 3 years away.

"Civic democracy needs transparency and accountability. Citizens require checks and balances to ensure that decisions are made in their best interest.

A council or school board controlled by one civic party is undesirable. Taxpayers need to hear a variety of opinions and open, honest public debate. Residents need to know their concerns are the first priority for decision makers.

Government without opposition is unhealthy for a democracy whether at the federal, provincial or local level. Now is the time for genuine democracy and truly accountable government in Burnaby."
