TEAM Burnaby is a non-partisan civic organization dedicated to promoting excellence in local governance in Burnaby. TEAM Burnaby's goal is to find high quality candidates for city council and school board and to promote excellence in local government in Burnaby.
TEAM Burnaby welcomes all residents and business people in Burnaby who want local government to be responsive and accountable to the needs of our community. TEAM Burnaby believes that local government should practice sound financial management and ensure good value for taxpayer dollars. TEAM Burnaby believes there should not be any unnecessary red tape at city hall. We believe in cutting waste and mismanagement at city hall.
TEAM Burnaby is a society registered under the Societies' Act of B.C. Its affairs are governed by a president and board of directors that is selected from the membership at general meetings. Voting members must be Canadian citizens of voting agent who live in Burnaby, own property in Burnaby or hold business licenses. Others can join TEAM Burnaby as non-voting associate members.
TEAM Burnaby develops policy for the sound management of Burnaby in consultation with the membership, directors, elected officials and candidates. TEAM candidates and elected officials are expected to work cooperatively with each other in the best interest of Burnaby. TEAM Burnaby elected officials are expected to keep the board and members informed of current and emerging events at city council and school board.
TEAM Burnaby welcomes everyone's participation. We are a democratic, non-partisan association interested in the well-being of everyone who lives and works in Burnaby.
TEAM Burnaby believes in a free enterprise philosophy and supports policies of economic growth and sound financial management. While TEAM Burnaby is not affiliated with any federal or provincial political party, we welcome all people who believe that private enterprise, hard work and initiative are the bedrock of our economic system. We believe that the Burnaby mayor, councilors and school trustees should work cooperatively with other levels of government and other local governments for the common good.
TEAM Burnaby recognizes that our diversity is our strength. We recognize the diverse, multicultural and multi-faith nature of our community and we welcome everyone to work together to build a better community. We encourage newcomers as well as longstanding members of our community to come together to build a better community.
TEAM Burnaby believes we must support our local police department and give it the resources to make our community safe and fight crime on our behalf. We believe the city must make greater efforts to hire more RCMP officers to make our city safer.
TEAM Burnaby believes we must foster academic excellence and good citizenship in our schools. We believe that our schools must help train our leaders for tomorrow and citizens who can lead and excel in our global economy.
TEAM Burnaby believes we must maintain and improve city services, recreation and cultural facilities and parks to promote healthy living for our citizens. TEAM Burnaby encourages volunteerism and wants citizens to participate in helping making our community better through active participation of service clubs, faith-based organizations, sports and cultural associations.
TEAM Burnaby encourages all residents and business people to join us to build a better future for Burnaby citizens.
